Softub, Inc. employs a team of engineers devoted to make the most energy-efficient, comfortable, affordable and enjoyable spa on the market.
Softub, Inc. is known not just for innovative design, but also for a high quality finished product. According to Tom Thornbury, Chairman of the Board and co-founder, “Because of Softub’s commitment to quality, all major components are assembled in the Softub plant and put through an intensive inspection and testing procedure before being placed in the Softub spa.” Even the marine-grade vinyl that covers the Softub spa is fabricated, sewn, and heat-sealed in Softub’s vinyl factory to ensure that your Softub spa will last for years to come. All Softub, Inc. employees are proud to put their names on your product.
How long have these spas been around? How long will they last?
Softubs have been in production since 1986, and some of our first tubs are still in customers’ back yards. You can count on this spa to be reliable and durable, with a strong company to back it up. There are many Softub spas still in operation after 22 years of service.
Where are you located?
The Coastal Softub showroom is in Ventura, California. The spa manufacturing plant is in New Bedford, Massachusetts. If you ever need accessories, parts, service, or answers – no matter where you live – we’re available during business hours at 805-654-9000 (PST) .
What is a Softub made of? They look like they are they inflatable.
Softub stays the same size. No, they are not inflatable meaning they also do not deflate (which you would not want). Remember the kiddy pool? Also, air is not a very good insulator. The Softub is made of space-age high-density foam that is extremely strong, yet lightweight and, most of all, unbelievably comfortable. You’ll love the design that allows barrier-free seating positions not possible with any other hot tub. And you can easily move your Softub anywhere you have an outlet – inside or out.
How well does the vinyl surface hold up outside?
The vinyl is a very high marine-grade product that is designed to withstand the harshest climates and sun. Like any surface exposed to the UV rays of the sun, it needs to be protected. We have several options to prevent sun damage and provide many years of “like-new” appearance. Your Softub comes with a 5-year limited warranty. That means with simple, routine care, you can expect to get many years of service, indoors or out.
How much does the Softub cost to operate?
Softub spas are easy on the pocketbook. The average cost to operate a Softub spa outside, nationwide, is between $6 and $16 per month, depending on climate, temperature and cost of electricity. That means you won’t see a huge jump in your electric bill, as with most 240 volt 50 amp, hard tubs.
How does it heat without a heater?
Our revolutionary heat-recovery system uses the heat created by the pump motor to heat the water. The operating cost of a Softub is a fraction of most acrylic spas. Plus, you\’ll be avoiding on-site service costs because of the easy-to-service, detachable Hydro-Pack.
How hot does a Softub get?
Softub, like all spas, has a maximum thermostat setting of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a federally mandated maximum. You have a choice of the temperature between 80 and 106. You can afford to keep your Softub always hot because it only runs a couple of hours a day to maintain the temperature you want. An affordable cost of operation means it’s always ready to use no waiting. No need to turn it up and down for fear of a big electric bill, like with most spas. Just flip open the cover, turn on the hydrotherapy jets, and you’re ready to relax.
How do you treat the water?
With every Softub spa, we include a water treatment kit that fully explains the treatment process. With our delivery and set-up of your spa, we fully explain the operation and the water treatment process to make maintenance as simple as possible. We recommend the Softcare line of water treatment products that are easy on your skin and easy on the Softub. Using just a tablespoon of sanitizer to keep your tub clean and safe. That means it takes less time and less money to keep your tub sparkling clean. Typical maintenance supplies costs are about $ 10.00 per month.
How much does a Softub weigh when full of water?
A 300-gallon Softub spa weighs 2,700 pounds, including the HydroMate and lid. That’s about 300 to 900 pounds less than a comparable acrylic spa. You can place your Softub where no other spa can go. There are tens of thousands of Softubs on sand, gravel, brick, concrete, tarmac and some wood decks. Always check with a qualified builder or structural architect if in doubt.
What kind of preparation is required to install a Softub spa?
The great news is that all you need is a reasonably level surface and a dedicated 115V 15A electric outlet. Unlike a big fiberglass spa which requires a perfectly flat steel reinforced concrete pad to support the heavy weight plus a 240V power and a GFCI cut off panel that requires a city/county electrical permit.
Will I need an electrician or plumber to hook it up?
A Softub, like any appliance, is a “plug and play” product. And, with our SmartChipª, you never have to worry about power surges or brown-outs damaging your Softub.
